Service 4X4
No problem. I used the black perma-tex it has the highest oil resistance. Put the rtv on and let it sit for an hour then filled and drove a 50(ish) miles, then re-checked the torque/tightness of the bolts. With the oil I used about 2.5qts of oil for each diff.
Also a hand pump is handy for the front diff... I did my front diff on a frame lift this past weekend and the hand pump was handy. When I did my rear diff a couple weekends back I did it in the garage on jackstands and I had plenty of room to do it squeezing out of the bottle.

My diff didn't have a wire going through the cover... It ran parallel to the diff and plugged into some electrical thingy lol... (flux capacitor;-)) lol. But it also had a breather hose (from what it appeared) connected to the diff. So I took a 13mm and removed the bolts and so called breather hose.
I wasn't going to do my front diff since I barely use my 4x4 like you. But I had the luxury of throwing it on a lift at my buddies up in Maine and said hell with it and did it. I will say I had a little immusified oil in there... So I am glad I changed it! The gears looked good inside though.

Oh nevermind i see the fill hole now in my picture lol. Yeah that god damn flux capacitor is always somewhere, i never looked at where that wire ran but next time i do my rear diff ill do the front and check it out better, maybe someone else can chime on this.
You must have a different diff, what ratio do you have mikey?

How did you remove the cover for the front diff, I remember when i did the back i looked at the front and decided to wait since i barely use 4x4. But i did notice it had a wire going in the diff and couldn't figure out how to remove the cover what that stiff wire/cable going through the cover? Did you just leave the cover hanging with it or what's the deal, also where is the fill hole i didn't take a good look.

Just twist it loose, then pull it off before removing the cover bolts.
