** Uconnect problems **
Wow! Truly you're a tome of informational wealth. I sincerely appreciate you being such a good sport doting upon all my "needs". hehehe I can be high maintenance at times.
My sister lives in Oahu and when I get there in February/March I'd like to take you out for drinks and a meal. I owe you at least that much for all your kindnesses!
First things first. I'm a certifiable scatterbrain when it comes to phones. I leave the D4 behind all the time so I have a spare work phone that I leave in the car permanently, set on Priority 7. If I leave the D4 behind I still need to access the contacts within the D4 in a v*rtu*l sense, meaning they are stored in UC memory. I didn't know it's limited to 32 contacts. (good stuff) This makes life simpler in a way because it won't take me that long to discern who the most important contacts are and upload them. The work phone can then be used to cue up a signal with the mirrored contact as listed in the D4. I can remember nicknames but not everyone's phone number.
This is why I was confused about why I came and went from the car UC wasn't reconnecting to the D4 after it had matrixed downward to the spare work phone on priority 7. I often leave the car on, lock with the spare keyfob, do my thing, return and find D4 is offline with UC. Or I remote start the vehicle, spare phone on priority 7 links, and when I arrive with D4 in hand, UC doesn't upwardly matrix to link with D4. Based upon your last advice, I've turned Bluetooth off on the spare phone unless I've forgotten D4. This way D4 links properly as I meander about.
Wicked Witch is the ex. hehehe But we get along better now than when were current. Delicious Irony, I realize. One of her favorite cartoon characters from Looney Tunes is Witch Hazle who was trying to boil up Bugs in her cauldron. So that was partly the inspiration for her moniker within the D4.
Thank you again!

haha, that's kind of funny. I'd enjoy the dinner offer but I'm not in Hawii. I had to re -read your post and wondered "huh". Then I noticed how you got that idea. My "overhere Hi" is my version I guess of being funny. It's like "hey, I'm over here hello".
Bluetooth carkits (hands free systems) have a range of about 30 - 35 feet, once you walk outside of that ring then the BT signal is dropped and Uconnect will now start a search for the next paired device which is your spare phone. If it finds the phone and they bond, then that phone as you saw will be paired until there is an ign cycle. Then your primary phone will become paired. So yes, the easiest thing to do is to turn BT off. This will also give you longer battery life before charging.
I have friends that also keep important contacts in the Uconnect memory, this works well for people with htis type of situation:
I drive a Ram and my wife drives a Cheeroke (this is just an example of vehicles), we decide to go to dinner and go in her car. She's prioity #1 in her vehicle. Now I have a couple of work contacts in her Uconnect PB. With her phone paired up, I can still press Uconnect and say "Bob Turnoil" and the call will go thru even though "Bob Turnoil" is not in her phone's contact list. Now granted that Bob may look at the caller ID and think "hey I don't recognize that number" I can explain that I'm using my wifes phone.
It's nice that you and your ex can maintain a good relationship and still have fun with each other.
If you have any other questions please let me know and I will do my best to help.

Latest update. Since Uconnect cannot tell me who the text messages are from I finally figured out how to turn them off. When you pair the D4 you're asked 2 questions.
1. If UC can have access to contacts and call history
2. If UC can have access to text messages.
I've always denied UC's ability to obtain text messages since it can't provide the source. But it's been annoying at times to have my "space" invaded as I'm bombarded by incoming texts that comes over the media centre.
Here's what you do with the 430N.
Press UC button. Then say "SETUP" (not SMS). Then say "Incoming Text Message Notification". UC will then tell you if this option is on or off. UC will then give you the option to change this setting. Then you confirm it and away you go. I'm happy to report it's finally turned off. Armin van Buuren, Moby, Crystal Method, Gareth Emery, Aurosonic, and others need never fear the incoming text message alert. hehehe
Thanks again for your assitance!
Happy Holidays.

Correct about turning off the incoming notification. However just a bit of fyi:
Uconnect is not at fault for not being able to tell you who the incoming text is from. This feature works great with phones that support MAP (such as your phone) and also are GSM phones. GSM phones are the ones that need to have SIM cards (ATT, T-mobile etc). The incoming information is provided by the phone thru a BT message. It''s not information pulled from the phonebook list. I borrowed a friends trace tool to see what the differences are, now I'm not 100% versed in reading the tool but I can compare the messages a little:
Below, you will see where the Samsung NOTE sends the SMS senders phone number, Uconnect looks up the number and finds the name that belongs to the number. The Droid4 does not supply Uconnect with this information, in fact it doesn't supply a number at all so Uconnect has no way of looking up the contact.

Just a little note. The bluetooth streaming audio problem on the older models is in the radio not Uconnect module. So upgrading to a newer module won't help. You need to upgrade the radio to a 2011 or newer model. I have an REN with a 2011 module and the streaming audio is not supported.
So i have been reading online and it looks like if your truck is Canadian you don't have access to the Uconnect Apps such as Remote Start, Unlock from your Iphone for the 2013's. That's quite the **** off really for a $42,000 truck!
Anyone confirm this?

This is what I got from Chrysler.
Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Canada Customer Assistance Center
regarding your 2013 Ram 1500
We are sorry to learn of your disappointment regarding UConnect Access
not being available in Canada.
Uconnect Access was launched in the US market as an available feature on
certain 2013-2014 model year vehicles. This service, which is only
available in the US market, provides properly equipped vehicles with
services such as 9-1-1 Call, Roadside Assistance and other remote
features either through an embedded cellular or synchronized Smartphone
connection.
Uconnect Access in not available is Canada due to numerous obstacles
that currently prevent the Canadian launch of Uconnect Access including
the underlying cellular technology in Canada.
While these new Uconnect Access services are not available in Canada,
existing Uconnect entertainment, phone, navigation and voice command
features continue to be offered.
While we regret that we cannot provide a more favourable reply, we
appreciate you sharing your concerns with us.

I've got a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport.
I noticed that sometimes when getting in the truck I can hear a noise that sounds like it might be the hard drive running from the sound system. The vehicle can be parked for quite some time but I have not noticed it happening overnight. It's been noticed when the truck has been parked for as much as an hour so far.
Is this normal?
The system is top of the line with navigation & back up camera

Have a bit of an odd one, found nothing in the threads so far.
So, I have a samsung note 2, my wife has a galaxy s3. This happens to both phones. If we are on a call, get into the truck, and start it, the uconnect picks the call up...great, right...no..what the uconnect is doing is muting the call the second it picks it up....
Dealer says, we can't reproduce....
Anyone see this,,,I can't be the only one with this issue

your signature line shows that you have an RBZ radio, the RBZ radios came out mid year of 2010 for the 2011 vehicles. However it looks like you have a 2009 truck, is this correct?
You said that Uconnect "mutes" the call, does Mute show up on the phone or the radio?
