Default Shock replacement?

I have a 2010 TRX4 and was wondering how I'll know when to change my shocks? Im only at 40,000km now and everything seems fine, just wondering out of curiosity. Should be covered under my bumper to bumper warranty right?

Generally when shocks wear out they'll leak or you'll find the truck will keep bouncing after hitting a bump or pot hole. It's very unlikely they'll be worn out yet.

Ya I'm not worried about them being worn now just more to educate myself so when it happens and can get some new ones in there.. Do you know of any good off road shocks that I could look into throwing in later on?

My passenger side had to be replaced at 13k miles, probably a dud off the assembly line. You'll see leakage on the shock plus as mentioned a quarter size + drip mark on the ground.

Sorry I don't. I'm not into that sort of thing but I'm sure someone here is and will help you out shortly.

Kody,

Under the basic factory warranty, shocks are covered for 3 years or 60,000km, whichever is to occur first, from the vehicle's in service date. If required because of defect in material the factory warranty will cover the adjustment, repair or replacement of any factory-installed part of your vehicle, except tires, as they are warranted by the tire manufacturer.

If you have any other inquiries feel free to PM me.

DodgeCaCares, you just saved me a bit of $! While I was getting ready to prep my truck on a cross country trip from NC to CA I noticed that my drivers side shock was shot (leaking and I have notice a bit of difference). I immediately ran out to check the mileage on my 2009 Ram and WoooooW! I am only at 32K miles! I will be taking it in this week to get it fixed, I am quite curious to know whether or not they will change just the bad shock or if they will replace both.

Thanks
Semper Fi

Semper Fi,

It's hard to determine what they will have to replace, until the vehicle is formally diagnosed by a Dodge Dealer. I want to make you aware that I can only advise of warranty parameters for vehicles registered in Canada, as the U.S. warranty may differ. I would recommend you contact the U.S. Customer Care Center at 1-800-992-1997. When you provide them with your VIN# they can inform you of your factory warranty.

I hope this helps!
