Default air lift 1000 installed

ordered the air lift 1000 from e trailer
installed in about 1.5 hrs , very simple
took the bags and put them in a work mate wood vice , pressed the air out and then folded over longways and did squeezed mor air [look like hot dog bun ]
went in pretty easy , hard thing was the largr round spacer and connecting the hose to the brass inlet and install clamp

will put the hitch on this week end and hook up TT and see how much it squats , right now with equalizer sway control on settings mid level on the bars I was 1.5"-2" lower in the rear axle than the front

hope with 35 psi in bags will see where were are at

Mid level..does that mean about 5 Links up?..trying to get mine more level before adding my air bags...did you have some one adjust it at first or did you measure and install it your self? I was given my set up and it was NOT for a seven inch lift...the truck it came from was close ..but I believe I am going to have to get a really long shank

I've been pulling trailers for a long time and if set up properly with the correct bar capacity and head angle combination you shouldn't need any air bags to level your rig out. Save the air bags for other uses.

On the 09 ram 1/2 ton they have coil springs instead of leaf

I'm got all the washers in and mine is the new equalizer 4 way with sway. Control . With bars instead of chains
I have 2 more adjustments on the bars , right now loaded up I'm 2" high on front axle

Hopefully with the bags inside the rear coils this will help and also help with the side to side movement on the hitch

The hitch is 1000/10000 equalizer

Will see

What is your tounge weight? And when you say 1.5 - 2" lower in the rear that the front - is your suspension stock or did you "level" it?

With a Load distributing hitch there is no reason that the truck should be squatting.

Adding air bags will lift the back end all right but you still have the same weight distributed to each axle. It's a cosmetic solution. It's the trailer's tongue weight hanging off the back end of the truck thats lifting your truck's front end which in turn will make your steering lighter. Your rear axle is like a fulcrum on a teeter-totter, when one side goes down the other goes up. Adding air bags is kinda like making the fulcrum higher so the weight distribution problem is still there. You need to get the weight off the truck's rear axle and distributed to the front axle of the truck AND to the trailer axle(s). What's your tongue weight (when typically loaded) and the capacity of your WD bar?

I agree with oldjeep. There's no reason your truck should be squatting. Somethings not set up right. Pulling with coil springs is nothing new (TTs used to be pulled with cars) and doesn't need to be compensated for. Bags are a cosmetic solution for TTs and it's not really solving the weight distribution problem nor are they rigid. (They are great for 5th wheels or goose necks or heavy box loads though.) The side to side movement you mention sounds like the tail is wagging the dog.

The side to side is a low speed , the tongue wt is 940 on 6,049 TT

I understand about disbursing the weight to front and TT axles

Wanted a lil more stability from the coils , will see

I have 2 more adj. on my hitch equal 4 way

900 lb TW is quite heavy. Do you know the weight capacity of your bars? Perhaps they are too light.

He said the equalizer is "The hitch is 1000/10000 equalizer", so he is pushing the upper limit of the tounge weight

940 tounge weight on a 6000 lb trailer seems excessive though. 15% is a max suggested tounge weight and you're over that. I tend to run less than 10%, but it depends on the trailer.
