Default been a while, new truck, questions

Heyall,
I should be signing for a 2009 Ram SLT Bighorrn tomorrow. Questions, the truck does not have tow package (has trailer wiring at bumper) will a brake controller plug in or will I have to wire in? Did they offer a hd package- ie cooling? I will be towing an Airstream with it will extra be nessc? And last, haha, would the premium stitched dash "cap" be an easy swap in if I found one? John

As you already found out - there is no tow package for a 4th gen 1500. There was just a couple options for hitches. The tow mirrors can be bought from the dealer or there are usually some on ebay, there are 2 kinds and both come in chrome or black. The 2009 variety is like the ones your 98 would have had - small corner fish eye. The 2010 and up are nicer and have a full side fisheye - that is what I put on my 2009.

Here is a set of the 2009 style:

2010 style - these appear to be non mopar

Chrome 2010 style - can't tell if these are Mopar or aftermarket

Wow. Thanks for the post oldjeep. High dollar. About twice what I paid last year for aftermarket tow mirrors for my 2003 Dodge 3500 dualy. Power and heated. I need a set of mirrors for my 2009 1500 also but chezz those are high.

You think that is expensive? Then don't look at the dealer - they are about $400 each there

Default mirrors and...

Yeah! thanks for the responses!! I do not want to change out the whole mirror assembles. For now I'm going to get a stick on convex mirror for the outside edge. The factory mirrors are quite wide, just need a little magnification for the side of the trailer. Belive it or not, my 1973 Airstream has a fiber-optic taillight moniter you can see in the drivers side mirror to see your trailer lights are working. The Airstream is a 25' Tradewind. I'll try and post a pic- with my 69 Town & Country.
