Upgrading my radio
Ok, so heres the deal. I have a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn.
I currently have a 130S/RES head unit with the uconnect w/ the microphone built into my mirror.
I just ordered the 730N/RHR head unit and I will install myself because it's a simple plug and play. I plan on having dealer install backup camera at later date.
My question is about the uconnect, which I am getting mixed answers on. Do I need any adapters/wiring harnesses from the mirror to the new head unit or will it work as is?

You will need a new cable to connect the mirror directly to the RHR radio It's about $100 from the dealer. You will also need to disconnect your exhisting uconnect module so there is no contention between the two.

If I went with the 430N RHB model, would I be better off?
If I understand correctly, that's plug and play and compatible with all my current features?
Also, is the RHB capable of handeling a camera?

I'm not as familiar with the RHB, but I believe that it will be plug and play. It does have the capability of handling the rear view camera, and most likely you will need the dealer to activate that function.
The cable that connects the RHR with the mirror also is plug and play, with just the inconvenience of having to route it from the RHR up to the mirror.
I've heard pros and cons for both radios. The RHB has the Garmin based GPS system (I've heard a plus), but doesn't take any of the hands free commands, so you need to stop the car to input destinations. The RHR has the Navteq based GPS system (I've heard complaints from our neighbors in Canada about routing) and will take voice commands while driving and allows the input of destinations by voice while driving.
One last thing, make sure you get a high speed bus radio..

Andy thanks for the help. I will post once i have installed radio. I ordered the RHR but I'm not sure if I want to get involved in routing the wire up the post and dropping the headliner. But I like the extra options it has. I don't plan on driving to Canada so I'm not terribly worried about the GPS.
