Somebody is going to pay top dollar for your trade in (way more than you get in trade) and you get an anemic 6 cyl as a prize ...with dubius improvement in gas mileage.

I am not seeing the advantage here.
x2.... and I even resisted temptation to go back to the F150 with the twin turbo ecoboost last year. I thank my brother for owning one so I could drive it for a couple months to realize I like the Ram better for daily driving. And it's been a long 60 months with just 9 payments left. Now another 4x4 hemi with 3.92 gears and the 8 speed is a bit tempting but I know I would miss my trans schedule, always in the perfect gear for how I drive. Even a tuned ecoboost did not have this level of throttle response.

Sorry to be a downer OP, just my .02, and good luck on your new truck, whatever your choice is.

LU2, all i haul is my fishn' boat that weighs in at about 2000 lbs.

the truck is mainly used for traveling and hauling the boat. i am definately going to test drive the 6 before we purchase a truck.
Than I just don't get the idea of trading it. Life time warranty!!!!! Mine will have to burn to the ground in an accident before getting rid of it. I may buy another car in the next few years but I'm keeping the truck if for no other reason than the warranty.

Hi,
yes I am driving the V6 8 speed, reg cab long box 4x2, I just picked it up last night so I cant tell you a great deal about it yet, but I was impressed with the ride home, quiet and responds well, I used to have a 96 ram with 318 [4.7 L ] engine and this new pentastar V6 feels about the same.

Keep in mind that I dont tow or load a great deal, it is just a work truck for small jobs in the city, and getting groceries.

The gas mileage savings was the big selling point for me.
I think this motor would be good on gas for to an fro on highway as well.

The only thing I did not like was that the exhaust manifolds are intergrated into the engine they dont come off, I thought that wasn't such a good idea, I dont know why I think that, just do.

regards

Test drive one, thats the only way you can tell for sure.

I've been wanting to test drive one too. I do tow a 4k pound travel trailer a few times a year, but, hey, my '93 Dakota 3.9 pulls it fine. I've towed that thing thousands of miles with my Dakota. I'll have to check the towing capacity of this new V6. Dakota is rated for 5,200 lbs., empty trailer weight is 3,600 for my trailer.

I would never get rid of a vehicle with a lifetime powertrain warranty. I own 3 of them and will drive them until there is nothing left or one gets totaled.
