Good luck and keep us posted.
So latest update. The past month truck has been in and out of dealer for this issue. They at the time finally agreed there is an issue with truck so they started poking away at changing lifters and other parts like previously mentioned by other post. After half dozen times of changing parts they were left scratching their heads and dumbfounded. Part of the catch the dealer has been really hesitant on contacting chysler over this issue. Makes me wonder what they are hiding. So..... as of yesterday the dealer finally got a hold of chysler to explain situation. Chysler came back and said basically if the truck is in drive able condition, and poses no safety risk then give back to customer and do not continue to put time into it. Obviously this set me off in a sense. So I call Chysler myself after service manager tells me this. Chrysler basically says " again" that they need the dealer to be specific in when speaking that the vehicle is broken. I was confused on this part because it was in agreement that myself and everyone at the dealer understood this was something not right and never dealt with before. But once we had a conference call between myself chysler and dealer " service manager" the managers tone had changeed in regards to the issue with my truck. Which leads me to believe that the dealer and Chrysler know what is up and don't want to come.clean. I made a point that if the truck isn't broke why did we spend a month trying to fix replacing lifters etc. Good question! I'm completely sure that all is not being owned up to on chrysler end. Many people on this thread of put same complaint in. But chysler plays a little dumb so to speak. And the tone with service Manger seemed weird also once put on the spot on the phone with chrysler. Just odd. So now I have requested all documents on my vehicle from chrysler and dealer be in my hand. I'm not sure if legal Is next route . I'm been extremely patient and do understand that the truck may not get fixed due to not knowing the issue. My point is they should acknowledge the issue a little more serious than they have. In which is where I believe they do but don't want to admit. When the service manager says that he doesn't think it's a engine problem but more a program issue and that's it . That makes.no difference. Simply.put truck is broken and they pond off as " oh well " basically suck it up. Anyways I guess this is a bit of a rant but.also a update. Anyone have any ideas now? This is just crazy. I can't even trade the truck cause of this noise. Any suggestions . Any! How do all of our cases get properly heard? Any help would be great cause of now the truck won't go back cause they have no way to fix and the cost will.probably get billed to me. Thanks.

I feel your pain Jaspf. I just spent the better part of an hour reading through this post. I have a 2010 charger rt 5.7 and have been dealing with the MDS tick for 4 months with dealer. The noise first started after the recall replacement of the timing chain and guide... which is directly linked with the MDS system. They have changed the solenoid the oils, and just today all 8 lifters and gaskets. It says right here on the report from the tech "road tested and noise dampened, but still present. Called Chrysler Tech line and was advised MDS ticking is normal characteristics of MDS Hemi Engines." Before I even left the dealer I explained it is absolutely not normal and did not make this noise until the replacement of timing chain. the noise is almost a grinding sound. I have to wait till to tomorrow to hear from service manager if they will re-look at the chain or my next call is to Chrysler.

Your Charger was recalled for the timing chain and guide? I was unaware that there was a recall of this nature for any of the latest gen II 5.7 Hemis - cars or trucks. What was the recall number?

Cheers,

Keith

I believe I mentioned this in an earlier post in this thread. In cars the guide and/or chain breaks causing significant engine damage. However, the guides at least, are not the same part number between car engines and truck motors and I'm not aware of any chains or guides actually breaking in truck motors.

Default 5.7 Hemi Recall for Timing Chain Guides and Tensioners

Hope this helps:

Also read that after 2012 5.7 Hemis got beefier chain and new guide and tensioner material. The recall, however, only applies to cars. Trucks may already have been built with a heavier chain.

No sweat, Dusty has since provided a ref for the recall in question.

Indeed you did but I don't recall that it was the subject of recall.

Thx!

Dusty, thanks for that! Learned something new today. However, and failed timing chain guides aside, the link between this timing chain issue and the MDS clatter appears to be still up for debate.
