Default HEMI cold temp ticking exhaust - fixed

I'm the 2nd owner so I don't have the lifetime powertrain warranty. I bought four bolts from the dealer but only one of the bolts was broken, the very back bolt on passenger side. I decided to go ahead and replace both bolts for cylinder 8.

Should I do the driver's side too, even though they're not broken?

Note that I got lucky, the bolt was sheared off at the top of the manifold, so I used my dremel to cut a notch in the bolt and it just twisted right out with a standard screwdriver:

There was actually an RRT out for replacing those. If the other side isn't broke then I wouldn't mess with them.

I thought the lifetime power train warranty carried over? I know my lifetime bumper to bumper doesnt.

I'm with oldjeep, even if you replace them, it doesn't they will not snap. In my case, the dealer replaced both sides during the recall, and both sides still snapped afterwards. It's a good thing I have the lifetime warranty.

I think I'll leave the driver's side in for now. I'd really hate to break them trying to remove them. Also, I torqued the bolts to spec (18 ft lbs) which really didn't feel very tight, but the ticking seems to be gone. It was getting bad first thing in the morning, so I'll know for sure tomorrow.

from what you guys are saying, it sounds like the manifold bolts are a recall item and should be covered under warranty.
just left my dealer today to make an appointment to bring the truck in on thursday to have the bolts changed and yhe service manager said it would cost me $550.00. told him to check because this is part of the drivetrain which should be covered. he said he would let me know when i dropped the truck off.
am i getting screwed?

It was an rrt, not a recall, and was for cylinder 7 and 8 exhaust manifold bolts. I had mine done whenever the rrt came out in 09 and bolt still snapped off. My 2 cents, if yours are not broken off, I would leave em alone since the replacement bolts they ordered and replaced mine with were obviously no better, assuming they actually did the rrt.

If you have the lifetime warranty then the bolts should be covered since the powertrain warranty extends to the manifolds.

If your gonna do it yourself just get better bolts than the **** Dodge parts is gonna sell you. Obviously they are no good to begin with. And for $550.00 you should get some he.....Well you oughta get something for that kind of money for a couple of bolts.
