That's too bad. Not sure how adding another layer of thickness without any cut-outs for the underlying buttons is going to help the 'pocket activation' problem. Probably will just make things worse.

It would be nice if someone would come out with a replacement rubber keypad insert that has flush buttons. I took apart my fob and found that it would be totally feasible to do that (for any company that makes these types of things).

Oh well. I'll just keep living with it and cursing it as I have for three years...

I'm hoping it has a thicker front cover with indentations for the raised buttons. But I'd rather a hard cover, yes. Maybe I just need to find a buddy with a 3D printer...

I also use the carabiner, also known as a D-ring for my keys. I don't like keys in my pockets because I end up with holes in the pockets. The D-ring works great. I just clip it on my pants belt loop.

Unfortunately it is kind of an odd look if you work in a professional setting and are not a janitor

Fortunately for me, I retired over 2 years ago at age 55 from a professional setting as an Engineering manager.. Even then, I just kept my keys in the top middle drawer of my desk when at work. I had too many keys, lab keys, office keys, car keys, desk keys..... Now I spend my free time volunteering working on airplanes and bugging people on this forum.

That orange cover someone posted would likely work better if you could cut out the part JUST over the buttons. That way they cant be pressed unless you stick your finger in the cut out part to use the fob. Think of it as a "bridge/guard" to protect the buttons from being pressed. I would think if you DIDNT cut out the cover over the direct top of the fob buttons, you would still have the same issue. Leave some of the silicone cover intact all the way around the fob buttons. Dunno, just a thought.

Default dodge key fobs suck

Yes I agree, they suck for many reasons, there should be a lock out or combo to use it. Since I've owned this vehicle, I've come out to find it with doors standing open, hatch open etc. once my 2 yr old daughter got it and 2 hours after a thunderstorm my neighbor called me and told me that the van doors were standing open, I went down to find everything inside drenched. What can we do to lock this thing so anyone who touches it doesn't accidentally open a door or start the engine??????
