Default lock/disable key fob?

Dad has a big problem with the new dodge key fob. The buttons are raised instead of indented like they used to be, and he is constantly hitting the buttons at the jobsite. Said he came out one day after a 6 hour job, and the truck was sitting there running. Bumps the fob alot at the track, too. Is there any way to "lock" the fob using a key combination or anything, or is leaving the fob in the console and just carrying the key the only option (kinda defeats the purpose of a fob)?

No fob lockout i`ve ever heard of. Dont put it in your pocket, or buy a small box to put it in while in your pocket. Maybe try a different pocket, or just maybe, his pants are too tight...? When he puts the fob in his pocket, try making sure that the fob buttons are facing inward and it will be less likely to press buttons as easy when he leans against something. Lots of people have trouble with these key fobs activating in their pocket. Thats why they took the "window down feature" off from the fob`s... people were coming out to their trucks and their windows were rolled down. Its a learning experience, he`ll figure out whats causing it and fix it.

These fobs do suck. Worst design ever. Raised buttons are just stupid for this application. I bump buttons all the time in the garage leaning against the workbench or bending over/squatting down for something. There isn't much you can do about it except not put it in your pocket. The good news is that if you auto-start it the vehicle will shut off in some small number of minutes (8-10?), so it wasn't running for 6 hours on your dad.

Agreed the fobs suck. Would love to just not carry it around, but obviously that is not an option since it's also the key! By the way I wear loose pants and it still happens to me, so not a tight-pants issue!

Hey DodgeCares -- THE FOBS SUCK will you pass it on to someone who will do something about it? Not everyone who drives one of these trucks carries a purse!!!!

good to know it has a time out.

Is there any kind of fob wrapper? I thought I seen some for infinity or some other company that used raised buttons, and it wrapped the fob to make the buttons be recessed again.

Get creative and solder in a switch to disconnect the battery, patent it and make some $$.

I keep mine on a carabiner, very rarely have I accidentally pressed a button.
I do believe the remote start can be disabled via the EVIC.

I keep my keys on a caribeaner.

Dad does use the remote start and lock/unlock of course.

I like the modify and disable idea. HAHA

Is it a snap-on cover or is it a replacement top piece for the fob? Looks like the flush buttons would definitely be somewhat better than the stock configuration. Who makes it or where did you get it?

Looks like $10 on ebay and it is a silicone cover. Make sure to report back on how it works, I'd definitely pay $10 if it works.
