If you are doing some severe off-roading, then i would buy the better ones for the rear. I didnt figure you were into heavy off-roading and wanted to save a few bucks, so thats why i mentioned the ES9000. The EXP series are definitely awesome though, couple guys here have the EXP front AND rear. Only compliant was that on all 4 corners, the EXP were a bit stiffer ride.

YOU will.....hehehehe. I tell ya pedro, some people just cant handle the truth. I dont sugar coat nothin, i`ll tell ya straight up whats what. Ther`s only one particular mod thats had it in for me for a very long time, he knows who he is. He`s been a problem for others on here as well, not just me. As for buying rams again, no thanks. Love the trucks, they just dont have any good dealers to fix them right, so its time to jump ship. I`ll be in here on an off, dont you worry bout that...lol

You ask a very good question and one I've never been able to solve. In some cases I think I've made things worse. The stock shocks should be able to handle the heavier tires on the road. Unless you are doing Baja off-road kind of driving. Anyhow, I've put Eldebrocks on one truck and boy did they help off road, on road no improvement. Perhaps your stock shocks are just tired. Maybe try some that are adjustable so you can play with the settings. I've also had good luck with KYB shocks. I don't know if they even make them for your truck though. Go with a good brand and you'll be ok. I'm surprised no one with the bilsteins has chimed in.

The issue is that since mounting the heavier tires I can feel them moving around more. By that I mean that they seem to bounce or wiggle more when going over small bumps in the road, like expansion joints or cracks in the street. My guess is that the stock shocks are having a harder time damping the motion of the heavier tires (and they may be tired at 50K miles). I want something to tame this minor bumpy feeling.

Almost no off-road driving. Just a couple times a year I have to pull a skid steer around into some farm fields and dirt roads. I'm looking for highway ride characteristics. But I called Pro Comp and they said not to mix different shock types.

Thanks,
Rob

They`re the shock experts, (or are they just trying to UP SELL products) i just install what the customers want. Actually, they aren`t that much more money rob, i would just do the matched set of the EXP`s and forget about it budd. I guarantee you`l like them alot over the oem junk.

PS... i have a few tightwad customers that have mixed the 2 shocks, no issues here, but these guys aren`t off-roaders either... just sayin.

Thanks. So how difficult is installation? Looks like I'll need to rent a spring compressor for the fronts? Anything else tricky?

Yep, you`ll need a spring compressor to do the front ones. Pay close attention to how it all comes apart up front. Take lots of pictures, you can forget things and the pictures do help you to fall back on. You might want to spray all the nuts&bolts with penetrating oil for a couple days before doing the job, it does help, believe it or not. Basically everything else is pretty much cut an dry bro.

Just to dredge this old thread up...

I'm reconsidering this shock thing again since I need new tires soon and I'm thinking I'd like wider ones for a more aggressive look. If I do the ProComp suspension set (ZX2014 up front, ZX2028 back) it looks like I can adjust them to get up to 2.75" height in the front. With that it looks like 305/55R20 tires should fit without issues, especially if I use -12 offset wheels. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks,
Rob

I'm pretty sure what that clearance you can clear 35" tires. Especially with -12 your good to go.
