Rear axle swap
So I have a 2010 Ram 1500 HEMI with a rear axle ratio of 3.21 and I hit a curb and cracked the housing of the differential as well as the wheel. So I wanted to see what I need to do in order to change/swap the axle for a higher ratio like a 3.55 or a 3.92? oh and I have a 5sp auto transmission. would I have to take the truck into the dealer for programing I am planning to do all the work my self
Damn that sucks!
There's no programming required. The 4th Gens pull the speed off wheel/hub sensors. So, you can swap gears without needing to recalibrate the speedo. The only change that will affect the speedo is if you go up or down in tire size.
I swapped my gears from 3.55s to 4.10s and was asking the same question basically. A couple of technicians I know from back home clued me in on the sensor deal, and sure enough, once the 4.10s were in, no change in speedo. I tested it both before and after compared to a speedo on a Garmin GPS.

Yes and our rears on this truck are pretty easy, take your time and you will be fine, once you take off the shocks and the rear drops down lower the springs will just about roll out on the floor, watch the brake lines they wont take too much drop, take them off first
www.car-part.com It is not going to be cheap. Any reason you are not making an insurance claim?
