ball joint replacement
I have an 09 dodge ram crew and the lower driverside ball joint needs replacing...has anyone done this yet..if so..can I just replace the ball joint instead of the whole control arm...
do you know what the part number would be for the lower ball joint...I have 48,000 miles on it...the pass side is tight..the drivers side has at least 1/8 inch up and down play..thanks
When I talked to the dealer a while ago they did not list aftermarket ball joints for the 09s and up yet. The Tech told me the part number for the lower control arm was the same as the 2002 through 2008 so the ball joint would be the same as well.
I will only buy Moog.
Moog K7465 for the Lower 2WD
Moog K7467 for the Lower 4WD Crew Cab
These are the part number also listed on amazon for 2009 now.

that's what ive found out too..they have the control arms for 06 and up to 2012,,,but not the ball joints only go up to 08...have you done your lowers yet...I guess I can buy one at autozone and see if it matches up to mine..then I will post my findings..its just another way to have people buy oem..thanks
Rkfguard -
I also have an '09 Crew an fit is in the shop now for the driver's side lower ball joint - my guy says i'd need to do the whole control arm because you can't get just the ball joint. The OEM price was $600+ and the aftermarket about half that for the control arm.
It seems that the lower ball joint has gone dry - and there's no way to grease it.
Haven't decided yet what if anything i'll do.

Are you sure you need a new ball joint or are you talking about a tie rod end? I know these truck are notorious for tearing up tie rods but never heard of ball joints yet. Just asking because I have an 09 with 92000 on it and I havent touched the front end other than to change shocks.
