Add Me to the shudder List...
of people experiencing the 30-40 MPH partial throttle shudder/rattling/vibration. The weird thing is I have a 2010 RAM with the 4.7L, not the Hemi/MDS combination that seems to be the deadly combination for this issue. I've been reading up tonight, lots of good info BTW, and i've already been through my first visit to the local dealership and receive the "Don't hear it", "Oh that's normal when the converter is locked up" response. Guess this is gonna be another long drawn out fight to add to the list. I'm certainly betting it ends up being a TC. Wish me luck.
"star case torque converter", copy it print it out, take it to your dealership and enlighten them with it. You`re likely correct, its likely the typical loose turbine spline shaft and hub in the TC that is rattling. I do believe the 4.7 trucks fell under that same star case issue. If you dont get anywhere with the dealer, call chrysler. A squeaky wheel usually gets the grease.
Here you go> Star Case: S1121000005
Release Date: 6/30/11
Symptom/Vehicle Issue:
Customer indicates that the vehicle has a slight moan, drone, or rattle noise and sounds as though it is coming from the exhaust, The customer may indicate that the noise occurs under light load (1400 - 1700 engine rpm - around 40 to 60 mph)
Diagnosis:
Confirm that the noise only occurs while the torque converter is in lock-up at low speeds (around 1400 - 1700 engine RPM) at approximately 45 mph. If the noise is heard while transmission is in partial lock-up at 1400 - 1700 RPM, put the vehicle into ERS - Tow/Haul mode (deactivates MDS and torque converter in full lock-up) If the noise is unchanged, perform the following repair procedure. If the noise goes away in ERS mode, further diagnosis is required. If the noise occurs above 1700 RPM or below 1400 RPM, further diagnosis is required.

Thanks again for the Star Case info man. I brought it with me, and actually got to talk to someone who knew what he was doing this time. Took him about 2 minutes of driving to agree with me on the issue, and they had it replaced after 1 day in the shop. Noise is gone now, and hopefully it never comes back.

Keep an eye out for trans fluid leaks for awhile.
That star case number sums my issues up to a tee. It really seems between 1500-1800rpm for me there's a shudder and light 'clunk' under light acceleration. When I force the truck out of Eco mode and max the tranny at 4th gear it goes away. But...does this affect the 2013 trucks too? That's what mine is...

If the 2013 trucks are doing this, then i`m sure chrysler will do something with enough complaints.
I have an 09' with 115k miles that has developed this shuddering under light acceleration between 1400-1900 rpm. It does it all the time under this condition. It will not do it with the truck in Tow/Haul mode however. I have noticed all of the trucks so far listed are the 4.7l and 5.7l with the 5 speed, and newer models than my 09' with the 3.7L and 4 speed tranny. Does this sound to be the same thing? I noticed the bulletin shown above says that if the problem persists with Tow/Haul mode engaged, then it is the TC, but if it goes away (like mine does) further diagnostics are required. I'm fairly annoyed with this as it seems to be getting worse. I of course have the liftime PT warranty on my 09, as well as the "lifetime" extended "B2B" warranty (100 dollar deductable). Hoping the gurus here can help me with their thoughts on if this motor/tranny combo could/would exhibit the same issue as the larger motor trucks.
Thanks in advance!!

Not sure if this will help anyone, but thought it might be worth posting anyway.
I have a 2011 Ram 2500 with the 5.7L Hemi and I also experienced "the shudder" with the motor that was originally in the truck when I bought it and the motor I replaced that one with when the original motor crapped out on me. The motor I recently put in had about 100K miles on it, and it drove pretty well for a short period but again developed the shudder. I asked the local Dodge service guy and he said he's never heard of it, and when I went to this forum and others I found many explanations and causes for the shudder; I decided to just start with the least expensive repairs I'd seen and go from there.
My first fix was to replace spark plugs and when I got to the second set of plugs I found that the middle two cylinders on the driver's side had missing bolts on the coil packs; in fact the one bolt that each coil pack had left were both very loose and neither pack was fitting very tight at all. After replacing the plugs and tightening up the coil packs, I applied the second fix which was to clean the ETC (found a few threads on here which told me what to do). It's been 3 months and about 2k miles since these repairs and my shudder seems to be completely gone. I used to curse the truck and swore I'd never own another hemi, but with the way it runs now I think it might just be a keeper. And I've pulled a trailer a few times with a fairly good load and the truck didn't falter (doesn't pull like my diesels do, but I really didn't expect it to, either).
My next step with this truck is to find out a good way to see if I can modify the exhaust and help the performance. Any of you hemi fans have any ideas?
