Hey guys my husband is wanting to downsize and trade is 250 diesel for either a 09 regular cab ram 1500 2wd SLT with 4.7 motor and 68k miles, or the other he is considering is a 08 Nissan Titan crew cab, 5.6L 2wd, with 72k miles. Can anyone give me some real world opinions on these trucks and which you might pick, pros or cons? He is torn between both!

Well, since this is a Ram forum then I'd say Ram
Honestly though, price and condition are really the biggest deals. I've got a 2wd crewcab with the 5.7 in it and haven't had any major issues with it so far. 1 rotted trans line, 0ne front unit bearing, a loose track bar bolt, set of shocks and a set of brakes have been the only repairs in 104K miles.
At around 70K miles for either you will want to be looking at all the maint items, shocks, brakes, plugs, trans service and figure that in to your decisions.

brakes and rotors were just done in both. both have new tires, I guess the advantage is the titan has a bigger engine so can do more. We are not familiar with the 4.7 dodge engine, is it reliable? Everything we have had has been a 5.7 hemi. Not familiar with the titan at all - how are they reliability wise?

4.7 is a decent engine. I don't think I've ever even seen a Nissan Titan, so no opinion there - other than if they were a great truck I would have thought I'd seen a couple of them

4.7 is a great engine - a dream to change oil on. Put 130k on my 2002 with no problems whatsoever. Titans have a lot of reliability issues and generally not as well made.
I had looked up reviews just now and it seems like the titan has better reviews over the dodge, but maybe that is not the case. I just don't know a lot about a titan, we have only driven one and liked how it drove but that's it.

Titan's are Ok trucks however they are known as having the worst gas mileage of all pick ups. Friends that own them complain about gas, and the so so interior.
I know people with 230K on their 4.7 Rams with only the general wear and tear items.
Tundras are good trucks as well with a very loyal customer base like Ford. They obviously have kicked our buts over the last several decades in car sales so that speaks for itself.
Ford F150 with the 5.4 or the 5.0 are solid and tough.
In today's market you take a chance with any truck you buy new or used. Just get a warranty to cover the major components.
