Default What grade for exhaust manifold bolt?

I had 2 broken exhaust manifold studs on my 2010 TRX, (right rears) they both broke off flush. I f'd the threads up on 1/4 inch of one of the holes and the dealer stud isn't threaded on the last 1/4". The hole is plenty deep for a longer bolt. So... I need to know what people have tried "grade wise" I have the length figured out. I know its a common problem and I'm a little weary putting a stainless steel bolt, or even a grade 8 or 10.9 I guess they are metric. Just based on the fact that it probably will break again and I will be the one to fix it again. Thanks Dodge. I really don't know what would be best. I replaced all the other bolts, studs, and gasket, just need some help with this 1 bolt. By the way this needs to be a recall. It happened to my dads 2012 at 30,000, and his 2010 powerwagon at 40,000. That's 3 for 3 in the family. Starting to rethink Dodge all together.

Never mind. I just put a 10.9 with some anti seize in it. Not embarrassed to drive it now.

Its a powertrain warranty item. Fixed for free, with the new bolts.

Been an issue with all Chrysler V8s since Daimler (Mercedes) ownership. Had to do the two rearmost on the driver side of the 4.7 HO in my old Grand Cherokee and did the rearmost one on my Ram.

Luckily, they come right out...

On the '09 original owners, it's covered under the lifetime powertrain warranty, the warranty mentions the exhaust manifold but not the bolts, but it's understood that the bolts are covered - if there is a leak, it's covered.

On the '10, it's covered under the 5 year 100k powertrain warranty, if you are under 5 years and 100 k miles, read the warranty, if it says manifold, then argue with chrysler.

Mine was covered by the 100K powertrain warranty and I was over 36K at the time.

My dads 2010 power wagon has the same broken bolts and 40,000 miles on it and they won't fix it to under warranty either. We looked into it together, before I fixed it myself. We took our vins and miles to both dealers and they basically said tough sh*t. They just told me to hang on to my receipt, because I could be reimbursed if it became a recall. The one dealer had 10 manifold gaskets and 50 some odd bolts in stock. He said its a very common problem.

So given that the truck should be covered for the broken bolts, are you being refused because you tried to fix it first? In that case, you are not covered.
