So after looking under my truck at my current front diff the rear metal bracket is just a bracket with the 3 bolts to the rear diff mount to 2 bolts to the side of the engine block. I am going to see if the older models have the different bracket that would work

I was wondering if you'd just be able to swap the bracket for one from an early 4th gen, and have everything bolt right up. Interested to see the results!

You will need to get the dealership (or shop with factory scan tool) to program tire size and gear ratio for proper shifting, speedo and esp/abs operation. Doing the math hammerZ71 is correct. Get the dealer to set it to 3.92 gears with 20" tires. All will be well

Seems like it will, as long as the frame side tie in is the same.

Following this, hoping to see a good solution!

There is a great write up on one of the other forumz where someone did the swap, but had to use a differential from a 2011. They started welding them in 2012. I am looking at my options right now. In that thread, he stated with gears, all parts, labor and the differential from the scrap yard, it was around $3000 CAN/$2500 US. I would link to it but not sure what the forum rules are here. PM me if you want more details
