Update* I am meeting with the Service Manager and the Chrysler regional rep. at a different dealership on May 11th at 1:30. I am confidant that he address this issue, because he said he would like me to point out any other new Ram trucks on the lot that I found with the same problem so they can have the rust and chipping paint repaired. I will update results. Thanks for all the great reply's.

That seems risky and counter-productive. What if it doesn't rust through before the warranty is over, but does a year or two later? Now you have an expensive mess to deal with.
If you're going to put some kind of effort into it, why not try to stop the rust rather than encourage it? I'd rather have a vehicle that never rusted than one that got fixed, whether someone else paid for it or not.
When I brought this my dealers attention while under warrenty, they would not touch it.... Warenty is not inclusive to surface rust, only holes in panels...so fast forward to now, I have rotted out door seams..
If a owner decides to sand out the Rust, Chrysler is going to say F ya.
...and properly treats it, they won't get rusted out.
I understand - it shouldn't happen, Dodge/Ram should take care of it, whatever. But given the options, I'd rather have a truck I repaired at my expense than one that is no good and nobody will/can fix. Then again, this is the USoA, and we all have the freedom to live with the consequences of our actions.
Yep, I had the same problem as Cyclone. Mine started rusting with freckle rust at 1500 miles. I documented everything with Dodge. They said monitor it. They said rail dust. At 15k miles I had peeling paint. They said it was a rock chip. At 30k I had pack rust and perforations. They said sorry for your luck. They even tried to deny I ever called. I have seen hundreds with rust issues. The paint job on these trucks are so poor. It's like we went back in time.
So
I posted about my 09 that perforated out. I think this is negligence on fiat/chrys part. Example they are suppose to spray corrosion preventative in the rocker panels, this is why the plugs are there. They weld them and leave open holes to hit with preventative, the plug them. Monday I take my 1,240 mile new 2015 2500 to the body shop so they can stick a camera in and see if it's rusting. If not he is doing a 360 degree spray of wax preventative. If there is rust, I'm going to plaster images all over fiat/Chrysler/dodge/Rams sites as this is unacceptable and they are failing quality control
I'm a long time ram owner but I been a Ford mechanic for nine years. They just as bad off the delivery trucks. We dont go a single day without somebody coming in to complain about rust on less than two year old cars and trucks. Some people have a decent gripe and my dealership will have us do what we can but a lot of customers are nit picky complaining about surface rust on driveshafts and exhaust which aint nuthing you can do about.
If you dealer ain't doing anything and you have a legitimate rust issue then go to another dealer. Most dealerships will do what is fair.
i just purchased a 2015 ram 1500 special edition blacked out And I just noticed I have rust problems as well. I called the dealer and the salesman who I purchased the vehicle from told me all their vehicles are like that.
My opinion---should it happen-NO, does it happen-YES, often-YES, am I going to quit buying Rams-NO, am I going to take it back and tell them to fix it or I'll call daddy-NO. I just paid $50k and i'm pissed cause my truck ain't perfect. I'm going to fix it myself so I know it's done right. Should I have to-NO but I will. If I want perfect i'll call Foose, oh wait, his cars/trucks can cost a million dollars, but I bet they don't rust. Your truck was built on an assembly line by people that drink and smoke pot on their breaks(some not all). QC has long since vanished and IMHO it ain't going to get better anytime soon.
