Hitch Reciever
Hi,
I need a new hitch Reciever for my 2014 5.7 Ram 1500. Just wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations as to which ones are the best. And which ones are compatible with my truck. Thank you.

Did yours not come with a hitch? if it didnt, just get the Class IV OEM Hitch. Really easy to install.
Amazon for $120, You might be able to find it cheaper, that was just something quick I pulled up. After doing a ton of mods on a ton of different vehicles, there comes a point that you realize that some of the factory option stuff is actually pretty good. Especially when it is direct bolt on. Plus in my opinion, I think most aftermarket receiver hitches look dumb when they hang down. just my 2c.

Check out the website below.
Also talk to the folks in the parts department at your local Ram dealer, they'll have some good info.

SquatingOnyx, first of all you need to decide, what class hitch you need. Here is an article from our website, where you can find detailed information on that: http://www.carid.com/articles/everyt...r-hitches.html
As for the brands - Curt and Draw-Tite are the top names in this section. They offer Class 3 Receivers for your model.

He said hitch receiver. That would also be called the ball mount.
Only ones I use are the Andersen Manufacturing adjustable hitches. All aluminum, so the never rust up on you, and rated higher than you will ever use.

I've never actually heard of a "hitch receiver", so assumed s/he meant "receiver hitch".
Nevertheless, "hitch receiver" would literally mean "that which receives the hitch", in other words, a "receiver hitch". The part that bolts to the frame and provides a receptacle (receiver) for a ball mount.
Of course, since s/he used the unfamiliar term "hitch receiver", s/he could have meant almost anything, and speculation barring further facts is probably unproductive and irrelevant.

The problem I have right now is the new Ram has a 2 1/2" tube and I'm not crazy about the adapter sleeve. If for no other reason, it rattles like crazy. Am looking at the Weigh Safe Class V, 4" drop with a 12,500 rating which is pretty high for an adjustable mount.
BWT, I took the OP to mean he was looking for the frame mount trailer hitch as well...

oldjeep, you're not having a problem with the rapid hitch shank being so short? I've got two that were given to me free by a buddy of mine who owns a peanut farm. They were too short and causing bumper damage hauling 8000# peanut carts. I think they are the EZ hitch model though. Look well made and sturdy but I find them to be on the short side too, the shank is shorter than any other mount I have. Price was right (LOL) but I rarely use them because I'd need an extender which would reduce capacity to 5000#.

Been using them for 12 years and haven't had any issues with it being too short, but I use it as a drop - not a lift so there is no way it is going to hit the bumper. There are 2 pin holes, so if I did have to flip it I could get it a little further back. Mine has a 10K rating when used with the 2 5/16 ball, but it is just a class 4 (2" tube)
