Default Broken Exhaust Manifold Bolts (Third Time)

Unbelievable.....
2009 5.7 1500 CC
Fortunately, I have the lifetime powertrain warranty, but this is nonsense. Its well known that the bracing support system of the exhaust does not allow enough flexibility and stresses the exhaust manifold and its bolts.

First time 33,125 miles
Second time 74,137 (41,000)
Third Time 108,000 (34,000)

When or if did Dodge fix this problem and what year were the changes made? I don't want the same junky bolts put back in and have it fail again in 35,000 miles. I want FCM to use ARP bolts or something better than what they keep sticking in there. This is nuts.

If this thread is being monitored by a FCM employee, please contact me or respond to this thread about providing a true fix rather than this band aid crap.

please advise if you find anything out

Same deal on mine. 150K on it, various exhaust bolts have been replaced 3 times and I can tell it is time for some more. Glad it has the lifetime powertrain.

Why in the world doesn't Dodge fix this rather than sticking the same junky bolts in there???

Are they just trying to wait us out for those that have lifetime warranty? I can't imagine how loudly I would be screaming if I was expected to pay for this.

I have the same truck and motor, 2nd owner at 34k miles, and had this tick repaired at 80k. Except I had to pay for this myself!!! cost me over a grand. If it has a lifetime power train warranty, why was I told by the dealer that I had to pay for it??

Sadly, the lifetime warranty doesn't carry over to the next owner.

I seriously doubt that it is an actual bolt issue. My theory is that the exhaust manifolds on some trucks are not drilled correctly which is causing them to snap bolts on heat/cool cycles. But at 160K that has been my only real issue with the truck so I'm good.

Over $1000? Seems excessive, where did you have it done, and how many needed replacing? I was thinking about having a shop do this, but might have to do it myself if it's going to cost that much. Might be worth it to get headers put on at the same time.

I just had both of mine done from an exhaust shop, $75 for each manifold (i believe they were doorman) and approx. 2 hrs labour for each one. The shop told me that they put stronger bols in the rear of the manifold as they typically heat up more and stretch which causes the ticking on the factory systems.
