Default 2014 Rear Axle Boot

The dealer mentioned to me that I may have a tear on my 2014 dodge ram 4 wheel drive axle boot,whats involved in changing the boot and can you just change it?

Removing the axle and installing a new boot. You can do it yourself depending on your skill level and access to tools, etc. . There's plenty of videos on you tube.

Rear axle boot?? They didn't go to independent rear suspension did they??

I didn't even bother addressing that part since the steps would still be the same....

Thanks for the responses,I have been told it is easier to change the axle than just the boot is that true?

If it's a front CV axle, yeah, take out the old one, stuff in the new one, and you are done. Replacements are fairly inexpensive.... (still more than just a boot and grease though.....) I MUCH prefer to just replace the whole thing..... spares me having to do the job again, if the CV joint was damaged while be ran without lube.

It is the rear axle boot that they are saying is torn.

I am real curious what they are calling a boot.... You don't have independent rear suspension that I am aware of........ so, no boots back there..... Can you post a pic of the part in question?
