Default Short runner valve

Good day, I have a 13 1500 longhorn and don't know what to do anymore. In the last 3 months my truck has been to the dealer for the P1004 code 5 times. They have "updated" it twice, replaced the short runner valve, last week replaced the complete intake and once said that the code was there but there was nothing wrong. I have looked all over and can't find any info on my year of truck for that code. Now I am almost at the end of my powertrain warranty, at this point I think that they are just waiting for it to run out.

would anybody have any info that I can take a look at myself or maybe pass it on to the dealer?

this site has been a great help a few times already.

thank you in advance

Then it's either a wiring problem, or the PCM has an issue.

If the code keeps coming back, keep taking it in. You are still fighting the same problem, and Dodge should still cover it under warranty, even if your powertrain warranty expires. (for like 12 months, or 12,000 miles since your last visit for the same problem.) As this has been an ongoing problem for you, that they don't seem to be able to solve. Keep ALL your documentation.

How quickly does the diagnostic code reset after being cleared? Have they been monitoring the freeze frame data for the diagnostic code to see if there is something consistent between each time the code is set? Have they confirmed the solenoid is getting correct power from the fuse?

Here's some info from the factory service manual that may help when monitoring freeze frame data:
  • When Monitored: With the engine run time above a calibrated value, battery voltage greater than 10.4 Volts, ECT within a specific range and the Short Runner Valve Assembly (SRV) control active.
  • Set Condition: The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) compares the circuit feedback to a calibrated closed range, between 75% & 85% Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) duty cycle, when the circuit is de-energized or to a calibrated open range, between 35% & 55% PWM duty cycle, when the circuit is energized. If the value is determined to be out of the calibrated range in either the de-energized, greater than 85% duty cycle or less than 75% duty cycle or energized, greater than 55% duty cycle or less than 35% duty cycle, state for more than a calibrated amount of time, this DTC will set.
The factory diagnostic procedure for the P1004 includes several wiring harness checks. I'd suggest you ask the dealer if they performed ALL of the checks and, if so, what the values were for each.
