AC blowing warm air when not driving
Hello. I have a 2009 ram 1500, 5.7 v8 2wd. The ac is not working when the vehicle isn't moving. On the freeway it eventually begins to blow cooler air. I've had it recharged but still the same. A friend mentioned a fan in engine compartment may not be working, I looked and didn't notice any non moving fans. Any ideas?

I have no idea! I know there is no fault code triggering though. I'm not very knowledgeable, I'm just trying to see if you guys know so I can order parts .
Watch the a/c compressor and maybe it will provide some information.....
when the engine is cold...turn the engine and a/c on. if the fan isn't working the compressor will turn on and in a short time shut off and not come back on for a while.
without the fan, the system pressure gets to high; a pressure switch trips and shuts the system off until the pressure drops...which will take a few minutes before the compressor turns back on.

There is electric cooling fan just behind the radiator. It’s hard to see around the main engine driven fan. However turn on the AC and you should see that electric fan spinning. More than likely that is your issue. When the truck is on the freeway enough air is blowing out across the coil that the AC is working, but when you’re at the light the truck is dependent upon that electric fan to pull air cross the coil.

I have the same problem with my 2009 ram 1500 electric fan. I replaced the fan cuz the on that was on the truck quit working. I flushed the water in the radiator and installed the fan and the fan still does not work when I turn on the A/C. and also the fan does not come on at 195 temp. I checked for power at the fan canon plug and no power. I remover both relays and tested them with a nine vote battery and you can her the clicking sound. I reinstalled them and and the fan runs for a short period and then shuts off. I had a P0480 code with the engine light on when I started to use the truck and the fan ran well and turned on at 195 deg. but when I cleared the message now the fan stoped working . and the fan would come on when I would turn the A/C on but just for a few minutes and then It would stop working. What is going on here need help,

quick and easy test is to turn on the engine and a/c....if the fan isn't turning on...tap on the motor with a hammer (don't smash it...hard enough to jolt the motor brushes)...if the fan starts to run after the tap...the motor brushes are worn...replace the fan motor. fan motors are $50.
