Default 2009 Rear End Sound

Just heard this the other day, sounded like a whining sound going down the road. Only time I can hear it is when the rear slide glass is open. Sounds like tread on tires but I have never heard this before. Let off gas and you could tell if would go down as well, then get back on the gas the sound would rise. Thanks for looking

Is the sound there, whether you are on the gas or not, and just changes with vehicle speed?

2009 AA 9.25 rear ends had many issues. I wore mine out even after a recall, it was shot. Complete rebuild including axle bearings at just over 100k miles. My guess is that it's time for a rebuild. If it's a 2wd and are going to keep it, I would buy a new (or refurbished ) unit and swap out the whole thing. This way you can also re gear it.

That's going to be an axle, or carrier bearing. Possibly brakes? Have you looked at the pads?

After more research and everything, conclusion is the pinion gear/bearing. Having it fixed Monday and while its apart having everything checked out. I think part of the cause was from pulling a mowing trailer 4 days a week for the last 7 years. Thanks again for all the replies
