Default Rough ride

Recently purchased 2014 ram 1500 swb, love the truck but it rides like a wagon, I understand the previous owner lowered front with shorter springs, every little bump & hole is bone jarring even after replacing oem shocks with bilstein 4600s, will the shorter springs effect ride quality that much? Please advise.

Yes. Put OEM springs back on it.

If the PO replaced the springs with shorter springs, the replacement springs probably have a higher spring rate than OEM to reduce the chances of bottoming out, hence the stiffer ride.

Had hoped & thought for sure the new bilstein shocks would smooth out rough ride after reading reviews on how great they are, have bilsteins for rear also but haven't installed them yet, guess i need to face the fact that its a truck & its gonna ride like one & not a caddy. Would any after market spring designed for lift be ok or would oem be better?

If you want an OEM ride, use OEM springs. It’s a truck through. Will never ride like a caddy.

On a positive note though, because of the suspension and spring setup on the Ram, it's been considered to have a smoother ride than the other full-size pickup trucks per the automotive press. So the OEM ride of a Ram is probably as close to a Caddy as you're going to get in a full-size truck.

Throw some weight in the bed, and it will ride better. Of course, fuel mileage suffers......

Installed bilsteins on rear today, noticeably better ride, now if I can just get the front squared away I'll be happy, until I want to change something else.
