hey you:the door doesn't have to be locked. if you open your door to back up a boat or camper it will put it in park while you are still backing and the truck stops right now against the park pin. how long before it tears park out?

Ah, the 'electronic shift' ****...... I seem to recall seeing another thread about this, not so long ago. I *think* you can disable that particular feature, but, it's buried DEEP in the nesting menus...... (and isn't available on all trim levels???) Might wanna drop a line to Ma Mopar, and talk to a customer service rep, that might have a clue.

Hmm I was glad for this recall I have a dent in my license plate from jumping out truck to check trailer hitch. Was in a hurry and thought I spun **** to park but was in reverse. Trailer stopped truck from running away(30' boat trailer). I never open door while backing use mirrors and or spotter or crank neck out window if I have to. I retract that sometimes I open door and look at ground to back or pull up an inch or two. Guess I'll have to roll down window and look now.

I had this recall done as well as the tailgate latch recall and another recall last week. I've been meaning to test it out but I never open my door when backing up. I always use the mirrors and back up camera but I know many trucks do not have the back up camera. Does it actually just slam the truck into park? I was told that it is supposed to lock the brakes up to stop the truck then it will shift through the gears down to park (similar to when you turn the key off with the vehicle in gear.)

It more then likely does that as just slamming the truck into park will cause major problems (transmission $$$) that they (Fiat) have to cover.
