I am just not a fan of the newer diesels. With the DEF, and a several thousand dollar exhaust filter that needs replaced on a regular basis.... I just can't see it. Way to complicated, and way to expensive to maintain. Not to mention the price premium for the diesel engine... that kind of money will buy a LOT of gas.......

Thanks those are good points, I usually simple down new diesels (remove all those parts you mentioned). I'm just not sold on the 6.4L towing capacity yet. I have a friend that hauls smaller trailers than I with a dodge 6.4. The truck can do it but your gonna get pretty crappy fuel mileage, but these days gas is pretty cheap.

Don't expect the cheap gas to last. Once things start opening up again, it'll go back to where it was, and then some. Everyone is slashing output, and laying off workers. Once things start up again, those folks won't be back right away, and the oil companies will let the overage get eaten up, so they can make a few more billions that they feel they are missing out on at the moment. This would be a real good time for the government to do away with the alcohol mandate (in fuel), but, I don't expect them to be that smart.

I agree but the farmers need help probably as much or more than the oil industry. I have been thinking about down sizing, a newer 4th gen power wagon works well for what I do but you just that you can't haul anything heavy or tow a decent sized trailer but they sure work well in the mud. Its mud season up here in the patch, I've been doing more walking than driving so far going into sites. My truck comes home often with 200-400lbs of extra mud these days.

It's not mud, it's ballast. Keeps the greasy side down, and the clean side up in all these high winds we have been getting.
