Default does the dealership need my truck to program new key?

I bought a used Ram and the small used car dealership I got it from only gave me one key, I want to get a second but can it be purchased online and preprogrmmed via vin or do I need to take the truck to the dealership? I have heard horror stories of the dealership putting the deathtune on the ecms of ecodiesel models like mine and Id rather avoid that possibility since I discovered mine has been tuned prior to me purchasing it.

They should only fix what you bring it in for.

I *think* there is a way to program another one, if you already have one that works.

Don't know for sure.... Have a wander thru the owners manual. If it's possible without special tools, procedure should be in there.

When buying a remote online, it may or may not program. That is why you would want to buy mopar. And yes they will program the remote/ key with either a DRB or micro pod.

I was able to get the pin # from a dealership today and used a $12 elm327 obd adapter and alfaobd2 which I purchased from google playstore along with the directions above to program my new $9 key fobs... I saved about $400 today spending 10 minutes doing this in my driveway.
