2018 Ram1500 5.7 HEMI - Check Engine Light came On - P0330
Hi Guy`s...,
i was driving my 2018 Ram1500 5.7 HEMI truck today in town, suddenly the check engine light came on. I didnt feel anything irregular with drivability issues at all, so i drove carefully home. One has to ask... is this a common thing with these 4th gen trucks having knock sensor issues?
I plugged in my scanner, code P0330 for the knock sensor came up. I tried clearing it, and i`m seeing that it is a hard set code and permanent and i can`t reset it, dealer reset only i`m assuming. (oh yayyy, off to the stealership for them to get in my wallet at their free will). Ugggggg!
So, my biggest questions are...
1) where is this knock sensor located? I would assume in the side of the engine block somewhere (?)
2) what kind of repair and cost should i suspect, or be aware of before i go to the dealer.
3) i should at least probably try to find the wiring to it, the connector and such, in fear of rodents chewed the wiring. (soy bean insulation is an issue, rodents love it, been there before)
4) am i going to hurt anything driving my truck to the dealer 40 miles away from my home (?)
5) is there any way to pull a fuse to clear this permanent code? (likely not, but worth asking)
Thanks for anything you fella`s could maybe share, it surely would GREATLY be appreciated!!!!!!
PS.... i hope i got this thread in the correct location for some quick help. If not, could you MODS please put it where it should go? Thank you guy`s

I checked out some other places online today, but nobody will confirm that they actually have the part to send to me.
But yet it says online its in stock, but they won`t confirm it until i`ve paid for it. I don`t do business like that.

Well, there's Ebay..... Summit has 'em as well, with an estimated delivery date in friggin April...... Check out the Ebay guy. It's not hideously expensive, ships from here in the US, (there are some from china as well, but, god only knows how long those would take to get here.....) should be able to contact the seller, and verify he has 'em.

yes i`ve checked around ebay. None of them i contacted even got back with me. Still on the hunt though. I would really like to stick with OEM if i can. But at this point, i can`t really be to choosey.
UPDATE:
Plugged in the scanner today, no codes found, even the "permanent" code issue disappeared!
I took it out for a few test drives, shut on/off several times on a few trips today, nothing abnormal at all.
I don`t know what happened, several road tests, running perfect, wiring tested fine, truck runs very smooth.
Maybe it just had a bwainfawt, i dunno. I can`t get it to act up now. No CEL either.
I`ll keep an eye on everything for awhile. But as of right now, everything seems to be perfectly fine.
PS.... i never did locate a knock sensor either. Hopefully i dont need it after-all.

LOL, you might be right! Weird though, it was like it never happened, lol.
Bringing my '18 Laramie out the check engine was on, I unhooked the battery, a chore compared to days gone by.. No light, my 97 light comes on when I have my clumsy feet on the brake & accelerator, I unhook the battery always puts out the hateful light.
