2010 Dodge Ram 3500 diesel power steering problem
I have experienced lack of power steering on just two occasions. Both times it was on the drive up to my cabin ( 25 kms of gravel road ) when i arrived at the cabin I there was a lack of power steering. There was an indication that something was not quite right a few km before reaching destination. Parking was only accomplished by putting it into neutral and revving the engine to be able to turn the wheels! The next morning the power steering worked just fine. The first time ,i took it into my mechanic and he changed the fluid ( which was not low) but could not find any physical faults. So I drove it around for several months including multiple trips up the mountain to my cabin with no issues. The latest failure again seem to solve it self overnight. The truck runs perfectly now!
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Could it be the high pressure hose collapsing under certain conditions?
Thoughts?

On my 96 (gas), the pump shaft sheared inside the pump.... so, everything was in the right place, and 'looked' just fine, but, the pump wasn't doing anything..... On mine though, it was a hard failure. No power steering at all. (that was fun, trying to get the 16" chipper out of the woods without p/s......) Might not hurt to pull the belt, and check things out.....
