Default 2010 dodge ram stuff in the transmission

Hey guys, I have a 2010 dodge ram that had some issues like skipping when shifting into gear, replaced the pressure sensor regulator seemed to fix the problem but I knew I needed to change the fluid and filter and I ran across this in the transmission pan looks like retaining clips of some sort. Anybody know what it is?

Plastic? Or metal?? Looks like bushings, or clips.....

They are metal, and there was no pickup magnet in the transmission pan which I thought was kinda weird. The previous owner rebuilt the engine 20k miles ago and the transmission has 269k miles on it but it still shifts perfectly

Well, they aren't critical then..... No real idea where they came from.... but, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

You can drop a magnet into the pan, if you wish too. Placement isn't critical, so long as it doesn't interfere with anything else.

Yeah but this is still concerning not to mention that the fluid smelled burnt af, I really want to know what those clips are from, preferably before I put the pan and new fluid in it

Well, considering the mileage..... not surprising to find some interesting debris in the pan. When was the fluid last changed??

You could try looking up those clips on a parts site, that might shed some light on where they came from, and how concerned you need to be. Or visit your local trans shop, and ask 'em. (but, don't be surprised if they start telling you the world is going to end of you don't rebuild your trans TODAY!!!!)

In any event, just as a precaution, I would start setting money aside for the rebuild that is likely in your future in any event, just due to the mileage on the trans...... Unfortunately, that is not an inexpensive repair........

Yeah I video called my brother who is a ase certified Ford mechanic and he said he had no idea what it was. As far as I know the fluid has never been changed until today. I'm on disability so saving up for a rebuild is going to be kinda rough, I may be better off getting a used one from a totalled ram with like 100k on it
