I am looking for some help. No one seems to know anything these days.
I am changing out my clutch coil on my ac.
My old coil did not have a clip to connect to just wires sealed up with wire clamps,
The wires on the coil are black. I need to know how to figure out which side is the hot.
Per the wiring diagram for the 2011, the clutch coil wires should not be the same color, and the wire that doesn't just connect directly to ground should have a connector in series. But if you're saying that the replacement coil has only two black wires and you're unsure how to splice them, then the answer remains "it's an electromagnet, DC polarity does not matter in this case." Just like a relay coil which will work with the polarity either way. Wiring diagram for 2011 Ram 1500 AC compressor clutch.
I should add that the above was for the Automatic climate control, and I got a bit lazy with my yellow box and see that I captured the location for the pressure transducer versus the location of the ground. If your truck has manual climate controls it does not change the wire colors or the ground location for the compressor clutch.
