Default ran the truck tonight

My best was a 14.901 at 93mph. The truck is a rcsb 4x4 with the 3.55s. With me in it it weighs 5380lbs. I didnt have any tirespin at all, and with it locked into 4wd it lost 2/10 of a second. Next week Im going back but Im going to strip out as much weight as possible.

maybe a dumb question, but did you try in 2wd? According to other posts, 4wd is preferred among racers for the launch and traction... so does that override the added weight?
Also, what weight can you strip out - the passenger seat, dash, radio and a/c?

All of my runs were in 2wd since traction wasnt an issue, 4wd gave me a 15.1 second run compared to the 5 14.9s in 2wd. As far as weight goes, ill lose the tailgate, spare tire, and all of my stuff inside

I wonder what you would run with the 3.92's.

14.9 still isn't bad for a 5300# vehicle.

put 4.10 if you want it to be a strip truck lol

and with out that weight in the back next week you might have a little tire spin.

Were you shifting manually, or did you let the auto do its thing? I was looking at a dyno somewhere and it looks as though these things need to be shifting well beyond where they do and well beyond the rev limiter for that matter.

I would pay lots for a good tuner.

Here's the simplest way I know of to gain the advantage of 2nd prime during a pass:

Before you stage, manually select 2nd gear. No, you will not start off in 2nd gear. What this does is allow the computer to make the shift into 2nd. It makes it at the last possible instant before it hits the rev limiter-you will not do better than the computer. You must make the shift into 3rd gear, which is really 2nd prime. If you simply select 3rd gear from the start, YOU WILL NOT GET 2ND PRIME. Simply putting the truck in manual mode is not enough to get 2nd prime, you must actually manually upshift into it from 2nd. If you do not do this, you will simply get the regular 3rd gear instead of 2nd prime.

Getting 2nd prime will net you a significantly better run than not getting it.

Be ready, 2nd prime will only last a couple hundred rpm and you'll have to shift again.

By the way, I think that's an excellent time considering you have a 4x4 and 3.55 gears. What was your 60 foot time?

Ideally, you want the shift to happen at 5600. That seems to be the absolute highest you can turn before it hits the rev limiter. Keep in mind, there will be a short delay between you commanding the shift and it actually happening. I've found that about 5400 rpm is a good place to command the next shift.
