Im selling my Dodge, it needs a new tranny, whats a good price to be asking for it? It has 173,000 miles. 96' 4x4 5.9L SLT. Single Cab, Short Bed. I just put over 7 grand into the suspension a month ago, It has a new paint job. New Headlights, New starter, New battery, New plugs, New 4.88 Gears in the front and rear. New Wheels, New HID kit, Just bought the JET stage II chip for it. K&N Filter, After Market stereo, And Iv sanded down the entire frame, axles, and underbody to get rid of any rust and painted it all with rustoleum to prevent future corrosion. The lifts over 13" and the tires are 38.5" Boggers.The whole front ends adjustable and could still be raised alot more, also I still have the stock blocks and aftermarket blocks so this truck could easily go up another 8" in the back and 6" in the front. Im out of cash for it and signing my contract for the service soon, hopefully I can get rid of this before I leave.

 

I dont understand , you drop all that money into it and now you want to sell cause of a trans ?? unless you are very lucky or find a fool you be lucky to get book value.. lift or no lift bad trans ill give ya 1,000...

 

The money was for college, Iwas supposed to pay all the bills I have with it instead I lifted the truck. Now Im way behind in bills and if I have nothing to drive then Im not working. Trannys only a grand max to fix, nada put the value at $5,800 with everything Iv done and it never seeing the road and all my reciepts showing its only a month old and over $7000 spent you dont think I could atleast see the $7000 out of it?

 

im not saying you couldnt if you get the right buyer but will be hard as hell with a bad trans...

truck looks very good, i would say just put a dr evil's transmation in it and ur ready to rock and roll.

 

No way you will see 7k.

Money spent on aftermarket stuff almost never increases its resale.

 

+1 on that... unless it's a honda then for some reason they think it triples the value of the part and doubles the value of the car


sorry to say, but with that much work and a bad tran I would wonder what else is going to go soon. prolly wouldn't even offer a g of the bat.

You can't take even half of what you spent aftermarket into account, unless you find the perfect buyer (fool), which almost never happens. Those aftermarket parts would definitely add some to the value, but maybe a thousand or so is all IMO. If NADA says 5800, the most you could get (with a broken tranny) is probably around 3000-4000, and thats if you find someone willing to put the money/time into it.

No offense, but have you actually gotten estimates for a tranny rebuild? I'd like to see the tranny shop that will rebuild a transmission for less than a grand. Definitely couldn't be done here in my area.

Oh, and that JET Stage 2 chip is a paperweight.

 

a grand max to fix the trans ? I dont know who you are bsing but when i did my trans i got damn near a grand into it , cheapest ive seen is 1700 on up to 4 grand....lesson learn , pay the bills before toys..
