I've heard it was. But still. Im lucky to have the 360 I guess. With a 2WD though, I dont have to worry about the front end going out. But I do wish I could make mine look as high as a stock 4WD. Just looks mean. I hope I'm not stealing the post... But I did black out my tailights!

i dunno my first ram had a 5.2 i hated it, had about as much power as a honda civic, wouldent tow worth a damn, thats when i traded it in for my 2500 5.9 5-speed, then i saw the v10 for sale and had to buy it.

Check this list. You'll find more 318's than anything else. http://www.allpar.com/old/club03.html
Whoever told you that lied, considering that the 318 and the 360 come from the same block. Must make the 360 a bad engine also.

So you couldnt tow with a 5.2, but with the 10 more HP, and 30 additional lbs of torque that the 360 has, you magically could? Please.

Yeah, it really is a bit, until you unleash it with a programmer and unretard it.
Of course, my programmer being on the fritz, I am reminded just how much of a retard it can be compared to an optimized computer.

correct. my 318 was a pile of donky **** while towing, it only had like 45k on it when i traded it in, it was garbage, would struggle to just tow my small landscape trailer, and i mean struggle, did i meantion how bad it struggled??. my 360 will tow our 7k pound tractor around with no problems what so ever. im sure the fact that my 360 is a 5-speed with 4:10 gearing makes it a much better tow vehicle, but that doesnt take away from the pure ball-less-ness of the 318. sorry its junk.

Wow, back on the forum again for the first time in ages and this is the first posting I see... sad. But yeah, well... I think you must have gotten a sh***y 318, because mine is at 210k and still pulling anything I need to pull. And you must really just be a loser if you think it couldnt pull a landscaping trailer not gonna lie buddy... my 318 pulled a wakeboard boat that makes your landscaping trailer look like a 10 pound weight. I can put anything behind my truck that I need to and it pulls it just fine, so why waste the gas with a hog like the 360, maybe think a little bit about other peoples uses of the truck. Unless you are pulling 6000 pounds plus daily, the use you are getting out of your 360 is almost worthless and you could have a 318 doing the same thing saving you gas, and repairs considering all the 360s that I hear of have maintenance problems out the a** compared to the 318. Not dissing on all the 360 owners btw, just putting this guy straight, the 318 is a great engine that has yet to let me down except the one time, but that was somewhat my fault not the trucks. I see guys pulling more weight than a landscape trailer down the street in a 6 cyl ranger or 4 cyl yotas and I know those arent pushing the power that the 318 in the dodge is, so stop complaining about the pulling power of a 318 when you are pulling something that weighs so little I could probably haul it behind my side by side.
