F/S intense blue tail light (passenger)
correct. my 318 was a pile of donky **** while towing, it only had like 45k on it when i traded it in, it was garbage, would struggle to just tow my small landscape trailer, and i mean struggle, did i meantion how bad it struggled??. my 360 will tow our 7k pound tractor around with no problems what so ever. im sure the fact that my 360 is a 5-speed with 4:10 gearing makes it a much better tow vehicle, but that doesnt take away from the pure ball-less-ness of the 318. sorry its junk.
Lmao.

The 318 is better. Look how it holds the torque curve longer. The 360's torque peaks at 2000 RPM, then drops rapidly starting at 2500 RPM

Looking at the graphs, it appears that the 360 hits 300 ft lbs at about 1900 RPM's and drops below it at about 3800 or so. The 318 Peaks at 300. The 360 may have a sharper peak to it's torque curve, but it remains at or above the 318's max for 1900 RPM's.
That's just my observation. I'm not saying the 360 is better than the 318, or vice versa. It's just what I took away from studying the diagrams. It's up to individual truck owners to decide if the higher torque is worth losing about 2mpg. Calling each other's trucks "crap" just because they have a smaller (or larger, more fuel inefficient) engine is silly. I say "fuel inefficient" because they're both gas hogs no matter how you look at it, it's just a matter of degree.
I just thought I'd throw that out there...

Like 98cherryram said, the 5.2L can hold its torque a little better at high RPMs.
Both engines are so similar though, one is not going to be any great deal better than the other. I like my 5.9L, I think it has more grunt to it than the 5.2L I had in the Dakota I owned prior to this truck. However, that is my opinion, my observation.
