04 Ram Stereo Installation Questions
I'm getting ready to install my system in my 2004 Ram 3500 Quad Cab and was hoping some of you could make things easier for me. I have a few questions that would simplify the process so here goes:
- For those of you who've installed components up front, where did you install your tweeters?
- Is there a convenient location in the firewall to run the power cable for the amp(s)?
- How are the door panels removed?
- How is the stock stereo accessed?
- Is one side of the truck better for running the power cable and the other the RCA cables?
Thanks

When I did an 04 Ram, I put regular coaxials in the doors, and put the components in a set of kick panels.
Yes there is a grommet on the drivers side under the dash that's easy to get through. Can't remember what runs through it from the factory, but I believe it was the hood latch cable.
As a rule you want to run the RCA's down the passenger side, and the power down the driver's side. 1: Because most batteries are on the driver's side so it makes running the power easier and a straighter shot, 2: Because there is less traffic on the passenger side, so the more delicate RCA's are less likely to get damaged from constantly getting stepped on getting in and out of the vehicle. Really though, it's up to you.
To remove the radio bezel, unscrew 1 phillips screw in the area below the right AC vent. It's right behind that plastic hanger. Then pull out the plastic shroud that folows the top of the steering column, you don't have to remove that whole piece, just pull the end out because the radio bezel goes in behind it a bit. Then just pop the bezel out and pull the whole thing off.

Ha, the radio bezel is the easiest part of what you are going to do. Literally 5 screws to get the HU sitting on your lap. ALl the wire running and speaker installation will take triple the time of the bezel removal. Ha.
Just dont forget you have to undo that one screw behind the garbage bag hanger. The stupid plastic clip.

Guess I am just not with the program here yet. On my car audio forums they get locked out when they are 'old' so I assumed if the post wasnt 'locked' then people were still looking for answers and they werent done completely.
Sorry to bother you with it.

I am new to the Dodge Ram world and these forums. I just bought an 04 Quad Cab 1500. I have mt panasonic flip-out from my last vehicle and thought I had it wired correctly. I get power with no problem but am not getting any sounds. I originally used push-in wire connectors but have since switched to wirenuts to connect my factory wiring to the wiring harness. I know it is not a bad harness, because I bought a second one and still the same problem, plenty of power and no sound. HAHA Any advice would be great. I am not sure how this forum works so if you can, please send me info to mtickle4@yahoo.com
Thanks a million and God bless,
