Default What Size Sub Do You Prefer?

What size sub do you prefer? I've heard a lot of people say that 10's hit harder than 12's, 12's are the only way to go, 15's are the best, and things like that. So I thought that I would do a poll and see what the majority of us thought about sub size. I've never done a poll before so bear with me if I screwed up. I myself prefer 10" subs.

Too many variables not addressed, budget, room/size restrictions, power supplied, typical use, install skill...

I was just going for the different sizes of subs in general. Assuming that everything is installed correctly and has the right amount of power going to it. I didn't think about the different types of boxes. I guess it's just about your personal opinion. You get what I'm saying though right?

Well to get the best actual sound you would need one of each size. different size speakers produce different frequencies at different frequencies. typically the bigger the louder. the bigger, the lower the note the smaller, the more punchy. i say stay in the middle with 12's. most vehicles have the ability to house atleast one 12. the project i am working on is to have a pair of 10's, a pair of 12's and a pair of 15's all with their own amp and their own crossover set to the best frequency range for that size speaker. hopin it will turn out ok

Just reading through the forms and saw this and thought I would contribute.

The Only difference between Sub sizes, assuming that the boxes are all built and tuned to the same frequency for each of the sub sizes mentioned and all have equal power, is SPL and only SPL.

All subs will play the same frequencies, the only difference would be the amount of bass you feel which is SPL.

Remember that frequency is the amount of time that it takes amusical note tofluctuate (complete cycle) from positive to negativewithin a second.
An example would be 20Khz vs 20hz.

Some of what has been mentioned in previous posts is myth and urban legend.

I have had 10's for most of all of my installs but I am currently taking on two 12's behind my seat. We will see how that works out. Another thing that I know is that you can have For example two or three 8's that can sound a whole lot better and hit harder than say one 12. Plus it is all in what you are going for SQ or SPL.
