Would one 12" L7 be better than 2 10" P2's?

Do you think that one 12" L7 be better than 2 10" P2's? And do you think that a 4-channel450 watt RF amp would push one. I was just wondering cause if I was to sell my 2 10"sI would have enough for an L7. But if it wont be any better than my current setup I won't bother with it.

What is running of of the amp now besides the two P2's ?
The12 would not give you more bass, it would give you less.
The surface area of two10's is greater than the surface area of one 12".
The surface area of a sub is what causes the air to move in and around the box and causes the bass that you feel.
Basically all things being equal(the box,and theamount of power) the bigger the speaker the more air it can move, which causes more bass and SPL.
If you had two 12's then that would be worth upgrading to but not going from two 10's to one 12.
Hope this helps,
Dutch

The amp is only running the P2's. I have it bridged for each sub. I just think that its time for a change. I think that they're just about gone cause they're gettin to where they don't sound very good anymore. They have more of an indistinguishable roar than the tight accuratethump that I'm going for.

He's right. Cone area is a major major factor in making bass, and it's completely true that the cone area IS what actually makes the bass. But..... Moving a smaller cone a greater distance and with more force can produce more bass than a larger cone with less travel and less power. If powered correctly, and in the right enclosure I would have to say the L7 would be louder than the 2 P2's. But that amp you're running is NOT going to cut it. For one, you want to avoid running a 4 channel amp at all costs on a sub setup because, unless you only use half of the amp, you must run it in stereo. Sub's are intended to play mono and not stereo. You would definatly not want to run that amp with a single DVC sub either so the L7 on that amp is out. You would have to run 2 channels (bridged), one into each voice coil, which aremoving the same cone. With the differences in each channels output it would be extremely hard to tune correctly and would not be ideal by any means. Basically, unless you could get it absolutely perfect, each voice coil would be being powered differently and would cause a lot of cancelation and/or just wouldn't perform at it's max. You want both voice coils to get as close to exactly the same power and signal as possible.
A bridged 2 channel, or a mono amp would be a lot better choice. For both the L7, and even what you're running now. Ditch that 4CH, or use it for your mids and highs instead and go get another amp for your sub setup.
