Default New Audio System Installed, now ?'s

I sent a PM just before this site had it's problems... But, thought I would post for all and open it for discussion. I just installed some new components in my 2006 2500 Dodge cummins, but kept the stock deck(because I was paranoid of all the things that the pickup relys on that run through the radio).
3-sixty
Boston sx's in the doors powered by a p400-4
A P3S powered by a p400-2 put in a Q-logic

My question is will the stock alternator on my cummins be enough?

Also, I was told to run the volume at 1/2 to allow the P3S to"break in". I am ok with that. We even discussed tuning the 3-sixty to protect the sub andthink they did. Now, when asong with more bass is on and the volume is upabove half because I can't help it, the sound cuts off. I know it isn't the cd skipping because it willdo it with the satellite radio too. I hope it is just the 3-sixty set to protect and isn't long term. Anyone have any insight? Because if it is something dealing with the stock deck, I am going to be upset... I haven't had a chance to talk to the localdealer and installer yet, but thought I would check here and see what opinions are out there on my questions.

thanks in advance!

Wow, sounds like a connection somewhere. I would start with the grounds. But I am not stereo savvy.

I am running two subs and haven't had any problems.

I worried about the alternator/batteries in mine at first as well, but have not noticed any unusual draws or gains on my voltage, even when I have it pounding.

I was told the same thing concerning volume and the break in period, haven't adhered to that advice at all. Oh well...

it could be the stock deck because the amp for the sub is trying to draw more power then the stock deck can put out... that could be one reason for the sub cutting out... the other reason could definietly be a weak ground... if you notice at night that your lights dim on and off whenever your system is on, then your drawing alot of power from your battery, which in turn puts strain on that alternator...

Thanks for your input. I was hoping it wasn't the stock deck, but make sense... I will keep an eye on the lights but haven't noticed anything thus far. I guess I will have to explore the option of the aftermarket deck with the aftermarket attachment for the computer system in the truck that runs through the radio.

Any bad experiences with having the stock radio removed in a 2006 cummins?

What is running through the stock deck that makes you not want to remove it? I have removed stereo's in all of my trucks (including my '07) an haven't had any problems. Just curious. Thanks

Very Good, I don't have any lights diming other than when my intake heater grid comes on. Thanks!

I am not sure what runs through the radio. I was informed that some of the vehicle's monitoring system actually runs through the radio system and if the stock deck is pulled and replaced without some sort of aftermarket product I will through a CEL. Not sure if this is accurate, but I am not ready to do something like that unless I hear more information on it.

Thanks

Shouldn't anything run thru the radio except for Sirius sat. radio and U-Connect if you have that option.

As far as I know, nothing important runs through the new Dodge radios (up to 2007, no idea about the '08s). You might lose the dimmer, but that would be it. Chevy's, on the other hand, can cause all sorts of problems if you remove the stock radio. Anything from losing on-star & the door-chime to causing the vehicles computer to think something is electronically wrong with the car. Thank goodness you don't own one of those.

The three sixty should prevent that from happening since the amp is getting its signal through the three sixty rather than directly from the stock radio.
