Default Replacing stock tweeters.

Anyone replace their stock tweeters? I had a local shop put some Rockford Fosgate tweeters in the a-pillars but I'm not too happy with the sound. Thinking of changing them out but one set I was looking at shows the tweeter is 1.1" (28mm). Anyone think it will be a problem to get a tweeter in of that size? I thiknk the stocks are only 1" so it's only .1" larger.

EDIT: 1999 Dodge Ram w/infinity system.

The fosgate tweeters should sound fine.....the crossover point is probably making them sound funky.

The P1T's don't have a crossover. I've tried numerous settings on the headunit and built in crossover on the amp. They are just too bright/harsh. Probably good for heavy metal type music maybe???

I'm replacing them.

Just to be clear, were you saying there is a way to adjust the factory tweeters?

Either way, it's growing on me slowly but I still think the RF tweeters are a bit harsh. I'm still going to replace them with something else but really want to know if the 1.1" tweeters will fit in the factory locations.

i doubt you're gonna really find a huge difference in sq when keeping the stock deck. with aftermarket speakers you also need a good signal for them to reproduce as well as adequate tuning.

I have an alpine 7894 receiver (~4-5 yrs old) and a RF amp (50x4).

how is that all hooked up? with a 4channel amp running what exactly? my assumption would be you are running a set of components up front with the midbass driver in the door and the fosgate tweets in the factory location in the dash? Or how exaclty is that run. try tweeking with the settings on the 4ch. if it's one of rf's better amps it should have plenty of adjustments that could be made to make it sound much nicer. and then some sorrta rear speaker, coax or component running on the 4ch as well.

Here is the amp.

6x9's

6.5's

Front 2 channels run tweeters (in a-pillars) and 6x9's in frontdoors. Rear 2 channels run
6.5's i rear doors. Maybe, if I added a passive crossover in between the amp and the 6x9's/tweeters I could tweak out a better sound.

I would just think a nice 6.5 component set would provide a better sound.

What vehicle are we talking about here???? Isn't this a general audio section? That means all dodges?
