Operator error

Seriously. you could have popped a capacitor or diode on the radio circuit board when you shorted the power wire. Usually Clarion is good stuff or at least they used to be.

im assuming you checked the fuse on the back of the HU itself right? sometimes they can be bad without looking bad

If you connected both red and yellow to a 12v and black to ground and still nothing at all, then check the fuse on the HU harness and if thats not it them you popped something inside the HU. I did the same thing once and ended up having to send it off to be repaired.

Yea I just dint know how it popped the HU if the power wire wasn't connected...my HU has gone out twice for the same reason, and they were different units...the customer service sucks by the way....but there is no external fuse either
