I have a pyramid cd player in my s10 and had a 12" pyramid sub with a 600 watt amp, but i blew it (500 watt max)

spyder, that shouldnt blow your sub unless you kept it cranked all the time. perhaps they just overrated the sub? if its a 600 watt amp thats actually wired to push out 600 watts, than it will only push 600 watts at full blast. even still it will take alot of abuse to blow the speaker, because at 500rms its probably has a max power handling of 700-1000 watts. so you would have to keep it at full blast for a long time to blow the sub. maybe your amp is going, or you should switch sub brands? the new eclipse subs are hooooooooot </P>

the sub i had a 500 watt max 250 rms. i really dont know what happened to it. but i took it back to the place where i got it installed and the guy checked it and the amp was fine i just blew the sub, but i only paid 15 for it from etronics<edited><editID>Spyder</editID><editDate>37932.921099537</editDate></edited>

nevermind then. if its 500 watt max than it will only handle 500 watts for short bursts. any sustained current over 250 watts to that sub will heat up the driver like a jiffy pop over an inferno. check out the eclipse aluminum or titanium subs. for the money i think the aluminum subs are the best sub out there for the money. theyre so deep and rich it makes me all warm n cuddly just thinking about it </P>

I made it to the car stereo world finals in 2000 with it. i was ranked #1 in the world in my class for about 3 months. shoulda done better at finals but changed some things and didn't do well at all, got 14th. oh well gonna redo it soon along with my srt-4.oh and i also run my own little car stereo business on the side installation and sales.I've been doin it for about 10 years now.let me know what ya think! or let me know if ya need anything.(shameless plug for the business)</FONT>

I run all audiobahn internal speakers, 5 1/2 component set in the doors, 5x7 plates in the rear, and for booms, i have a 12" L7 kicker with a kicker kx 1000watt class D pushin it.. Kenwood D-mask head unit...</P>


Im big into car systems and cant stand bad music..</P>

[8D]I have 8 12" Kicker comp vr's in my back seat, a kicker xs 100, kicker zr 600, and a kicker zr120 amps, i have two sets of 6 1/2" components in each door. I just uploaded pic's so take a look and let me know what you think. Thanks, Steve[8D]
