Infinity system mid bass issue/question
I had an issue w/ my front door speakers on my infinity system no longer producing bass, which is all they do. I ordered a set of Infinity Kappa 692.9i to replace them, knowing I would only get bass, but I assumed it would be better than the stock stuff. So I've got 2 things to say.....
First, if anyone bought these, the 692.9i's....how'd you make em fit? The basket is hitting the door, even with the old 6x9 spacer on it. Did you cut out some of the door, or the speaker?
Second, I found out the problem w/ my stock mid bass speakers. They weren't blown, and the symptom I saw was silence so I assumed it was either the amp or the speaker. One of the wires coming from the cone to the connection near the plug of the speaker was loose/broken (loose on 1, broken on the other). I heated up the solder and got the wire back in there w/ enough room for the cone to move up and down and I was all set. So if you aren't getting any sound from your mid bass, check this before you buy new.
So I've got sound back, so I can drive it without it sounding like my dad's old pickup with the pushbutton AM radio, but how do I get these new 6x9's in the door, and is it worth it. And by worth it, I mean in this situation, not the situation where I drop another bucket load of money on amps and subs because I'm not doing that. Will I be able to tell a difference in the bass output of the kappa 2-ways from the stock infinity mid-bass?
