Default Double DIN Install

Hey guys,

I did a search but couldn't find the answer in any of the other threads, so I thought I would ask. I'm getting ready to purchase and install a Kenwood DNX6960 in my truck but Crutchfield is saying I need an extra part. They're calling it a PAC Radio Replacement Interface. My truck didn't come with factory navigation so I'm trying to figure out if I even need this thing. It's $130 so if I can get by without it, I definitely would like to. Here's a link:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_127C2RC...e.html?tp=3486

Any ideas?

You want the easiest solution? If you are installing everything yourself (which you should be) then just run new 14ga wire from the doors to the back of the HU and T-tap 12v (switched and constant) and ground from the OEM harness. You wont have the steering wheel remotes but you will have a new remote with the HU anyway.

It's $64.00 at crutchfield.com when you put it on the cart. They are 1/2 off..

Right, I just didn't know what the darn thing does. Is it just a really expensive wiring harness?

Not worried about steering wheel remotes, don't have that on mine anyway. I don't have the factory navigation setup, so I just bought a new bezel and am installing at Double DIN it's the old radio's place.

so if we don't have the navigation from the factory we still need this harness to install a navigation head unit correct?

with a 4 spkr system you just need the basic harness to interface between the new head unit and the oem wiring
