Default Radio question

I have a 2006 ram with the infinity stereo w/ tape deck. Just wondering if I can swap a 2007 or 2008 deck in so that I have the aux. Input in the front. Or if anyone knows a way that I can do that with the deck I have now that would be great. Thanks for the help.

From what I have seen, you should be able to swap in just about any deck as long as it has the same sort of shape and what not as your current one. The infinity option is just the upgraded speakers, extra dash speakers and amp (steering wheel controls?) as far as I know. Any other similar stereo from a Dodge./Jeep/Chrysler should probably work, provided you do not have the dvd entertainment system or sat radio option. If you have dvd system, then only certain stereos work with that. And for sat radio (factory) again only some of the stereos will work I think. (Don't look at the basic single disc non-mp3 capable stereos)

As for input, you have a couple other options available without buying another stereo. You can buy an adapter for your tape player, or there is also a wiring harness adapter that can plug into the back of the stereo that adds an Aux input. Not all the decks can do that, but most.

Here is a quick link I found on Google about the type of harness adapter I am talking about. Read the descriptions to see if it will mate to your stereo.

You cna find these things at many local stereo shops, and online at this website or ebay and possibly even Amazon.

Good luck!

06-08 Rams are straight swaps. If you find the right speed (for CANbus) MyGig, you can install it with a lockpick adapter.

My truck is an 06 with a single CD player and has an aux input, so even if there were issues between the years, you could just look for an 06

06 to 08 are the same. My RAQ, 6 disc mp3 radio is actually from a 06 300M.

Does this work with a 05-06 Durango? I want to get rid of my 2005 REF unit and replace it with one that has the AUX input on the outside. I found a unit from a 06 Durango that I want to buy. Will it simply plug in and work? Or will I need to rewire some things?
