I understand what your talking about but I'm not referring to WiMo, I'm talking about full blown Win7 OS running in my dash lol I hate WiMo (I have an HTC Touch Pro 2 ugh...crash, crash, crash)

Exactly, whether it is a full desktop OS or mobile OS, they both suffer from the same problems.

And I work on PCs for a living. I wont install Vista on ANYTHING. Its either XP or 7

Right on dude right on, same here. I honestly have not had much of any freezing or crashing on my personal desktop, I keep the OS maintained and it treats me great but you have to know what your doing to get the most out of a Windows OS. BUT I find when you DO know what you are doing and your getting the best of the Windows experience it exceeds the experience of a novice Android user. I will still put serious consideration into this because I would love to have something so cheap and small in my dash! What it really comes down to now that I know they play FLAC is the DAC or hardware of the sound output. I want to stay away from the bottleneck of using the on-baord 1/8" with a stereo RCA adapter.

Dont knock that 3.5mm jack as a sound output because there are MANY truck and car owners who have a full blown PC retrofitting in our rides with HDMI and touch screens and 5.1 audio and those sound cards use 3.5mm jacks converted to RCA to signal feed the amps. Ive got a truck-puter also

Do most these Andriod tablets on the market support Windows USB hardware? Many high end USB sound-cards have a set of gold plated RCA outputs, but I'm getting a Zapco C2K amp that actually uses balanced SymbiLink inputs not even RCA.

There are cheap tablets and high end tablets. Its not Android that supports USB devices but that hardware that has to be USB host capable so look at your hardware specs.

I know Archos could support USB mice and external hard drives but only certain HDs like the Western Digital Passports.

I used a small 5" blue tooth keyboard with mine a lot of the times.

That is definitely a downside, I want to be able to use external HDs, sound-cards and I have a usb keyboard (candyboard). I will have to look closely at some of the tablets on the market!

Default Foobar2000

I'm pretty set on using a Windows tablet/touch screen netbook, but it has recently come to mind that iTunes and WMP don't support FLAC files; I have been using VLC. On the road I'm going to need a way to organize and search my FLAC files other than windows explorer and windows search. I discovered Foobar2000 for Windows, it's the most basic and fast FLAC player available at the same time its also the most highly customized player available you can literally change ANYTHING about the UI. This way I can search my FLAC library or browse by artists and album along with playing them all within the same window, the visualizations are highly customizable as well. Another advantage of having a laptop in the vehicle is I can wire an HD webcam or two to the laptop for backing up and security surveillance.

This concept has taken a new direction and spiraled into this new thread: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...e-87-96-a.html

However I did find this tablet integration:
