2004 1500 double din with infinity system
I had an '04 with the Infinity and needed the expensive harness. I think it has to do with the signal to turn on the Infinity amp, but not sure. I installed my own in my '07, but that is canbus system. My '04 system was installed at a shop. Check out http://www.installer.com/cars/by_car.php?carid=7850. They're usually right on the money.
If you are doing an double din then you certainly need a custom bezel for it to fit. And if youre going that far then why not just loose the retarded harness, replace the door speakers for another $100 and have less headaches and better sound at the same time
Yes Weedahoe I have the bezel from you, if I replace the door speakers will I just be able to use one of those amp by pass harness's made by Metra (Metra 70-6510) and not have to run speaker wires to all doors? That I don't want to do, would be alot of work I imagine.
so I have a decision to make, I picked up a 70-6510 amp bypass harness at the install shop in town here yesterday and I ordered the Metra CHTO-02 module from Crutchfield on the weekend. Now I just have to decide which way to go.
If I use the amp bypass harness I was going to change the door speakers to 2 way 6x9's and run everything off the factory deck (no amp).
And if I use the Metra module CHTO-02 I was just going to leave the factory infinity system alone and just change the head unit.
Which way would be the better way to go? which would sound better?
any advice out there?
Let me know.
Thanks

Hey Boom... i install stereos on the side, and been doin it for 10 years now...i ran into this problem on a Acura a while back...what you have to do is find the factory amp turn on....Factory Amp Turn-on dk. green wire on factory harness...now you can cut it and bridge it to the remote wire (blue with a white stripe or blue) and BLAMM....your speaker will come back on and you can enjoy some tune...if you have any probs or questions email me J_Dizzy0469@yahoo.com ....and ill be glad to help you out
