Hello, lets try a couple things:
1) Look on the lower right hand corner of the radio face plate, there is a 3 digit code. What is it?
2) In order to get the update started, are you pressing and releasing the Uconnect white phone button or holding it while saying the command?
3) The SW version on the RES, REQ, RBZ & RHB radios will only be displayed (for the Uconnect SW) on the 2012 V2 and newer Uconnect system. It will also be displayed after this update is applied.
4) The radio isn't a bad radio, many people are pleased with theirs. What is it that you're disappointed about?

Also, I've tried the holding the phone button for 15 seconds to see the version but I get nothing.

Hmm, perhaps I answered your last post too soon. Looks like you don't one of the mentioned radio models that this update applies to. (However, depending on the build date of your GF's car, it may be helpful to hers. The supported build date is for 2012 models that were build prior to 1-1-2012 with those mentioned radios.
I have heard rumor of an update for the 8.4 but nothing really solid.
Also just to mention that there are 3 different suppliers for the Uconnect system because of the many different radio choices. Unfortunately, each supplier has their own Eng,s and the systems are not identical.

Its odd how her '12 chrylser 200 shows it from my phone, but my '12 dodge charger doesn't. They are both uConnect systems and my car was far more than hers .... Can anyone point me in the right direction for updates for the RE2?

1) The radio update is completely separate of the Uconnect update, as they are 2 independent pieces of equipment.
2) Depending on the vehicle build date, you will want to apply a Uconnect sw update. There are actually 3 different updates available. So in order to tell you which one, I need the build date.

xsdbs - I too am having problems with the iPhone 4S working properly with my RES uconnect device. Handsfree works, but no text message reading, and no bluetooth audio streaming.

Two questions:
- Will this update resolve those issues? It seems yes
- I don't have a USB connector (just looked in glove box and didn't see it my center console). Can I burn it onto a CD and run it through the deck?

I have 2010 Dodge Ram Crew Cab Big Horn.

Thanks!

1) Your 2010 Uconnect system doesn't support MAP (Message access Profile) which is needed in order to use texting thru BT. Prior to 2012, Uconnect had supported SMS "AT" Commands which is what the phone mfg's were also supporting. However the phone industry started to not support it and going to MAP. MAP became a supported feature in 2012. However because it's a newer profile and BT specs aren't tightly regulated some people interpret them differently. This causes problems when it comes for devices to be compatible with each other.
2) Uconnect's MAP SW works with several phones and there are some phones that have written their SW differently which causes problems. Some phones will rec messages but fail to send them.
3) in the case with the iPhones, they do have an issue receiving messages and sending Uconnect the notification of the incoming message. Apple does not support outgoing messages.
4) BT streaming audio became supported in 2011. (I will double check but I am almost sure that you could replace the 2010 module with a newer module and have the streaming audio).

Ok, so your vehicle was built in 6-2011. Have you had any Uconnect TSB updates done at the dealer?
